Michael Wilton-Cox is the founder and Director of Rapier Management Consultants Ltd.
The consultancy has developed new, innovative services, many tailored especially for small and growing companies, and start-ups, which have their own needs and for whom methods used for large corporations would be inappropriate and irrelevant.
Michael has gained a great deal of experience at senior and board level in many companies. "The grey hairs have been well-earned", he says wryly, but fortunately he has thrived on the hard work and pressures of working at senior level. "I relish the challenges presented by investigating problems and helping companies to find solutions", he insists. That statement also reflects his approach to consultancy - to help his clients find a solution, rather than produce a solution that may not fit their culture and methods. "Nothing is more satisfying than helping companies with problems - that is my buzz out of work.
He has worked with companies in a wide range of industries and sectors and in companies varying in size, from one-person start-ups to large multi-nationals, and in countries spanning Europe, North and South America, Scandinavia, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East.
He gained his MBA from Henley in 1992 after three years in part-time study whilst at the same time managing an international telecommunications company.
He undertakes Interim Director assignments as well as Consultancy work and Non-Executive Directorships. "It is about finding the solution that will best fit the client's requirements," he says. "Sometimes an Interim senior position is needed to see the company through a particular period or project, and sometimes they need more committed on-going support, guidance and advice, by appointing an experienced non-exec director."
He is a visiting lecturer in Marketing, Corporate Strategy and Project Management at Anglia Ruskin University and a guest lecturer in Strategic Marketing at Cambridge Marketing College. His affiliations are: Member, Institute of Directors, Fellow, Chartered Management Institute; Fellow, RSA; Member, Chartered Institute of Marketing.
He has been a Non-Executive Director of an NHS PCT as well as a number of private companies (including Non-Executive Director and Chairman of two).
He is an accomplished speaker in front of large and small audiences, and has presented papers at conferences. He also creates and presents seminars on a number of subjects.
We have approximately 12 Senior Associate Consultants available to assist on projects where extra skills and resource are needed.
We work closely with strategic partners to provide the best solution for our clients. We operate internationally, using our own resources in countries in which we have experience.
