Marketing – Overview

Marketing is the foundation on which a business is built. Without it the business would not succeed. The company can have great products, but if they have been developed without understanding the fundamental issues of marketing, then the business may survive, but it will not thrive.

Marketing encompasses a range of activities, all aimed at supporting and enabling sales. Marketing is the foundation for a successful sales activity, and is an essential part of the sales process, supporting and guiding your sales effort for maximum effectiveness. Without Marketing, your sales effort can be very inefficient and ineffective.

It is important to develop, and refine, a workable and appropriate marketing plan, fully costed and budgeted, which will guide the business and provide a structure for the marketing activities for the following year. This has to be followed up with proper implementation, with the appropriate staff and support from the rest of the company. A Marketing Plan will start with detailed market research on clients/customers, followed by analysis and understanding of the client base.

It is important to recognise what Marketing is, and what it is not.

It is not merely spending money on high-profile and often expensive activities such as advertising, exhibitions, promotions etc.

It is a detailed evaluation of your customers' requirements, and how you are going to satisfy them, in products/services, pricing, and delivery (and yes, in promoting them to potential customers, where necessary, and in an appropriate manner).

We have extensive experience in the development of Strategic Marketing plans, starting with an Audit of current Marketing activities, leading to the development of a full Marketing Plan and budget.

We also have experience in implementing the marketing plans, with hands-on help where needed.

We can help businesses, from new and start-ups to well-established and large multi-nationals, with the whole range of marketing activities.
